Beaver Toyota Community Spotlight Sea Turtle ADA Playground
Friends of Anastasia State Park ADA Sea Turtle Playground
Last month, our Beaver Toyota Community Spotlight partnered with Friends of Anastasia State Park. Our goal was to help them bring awareness and monetary donations with their project to build a new accessible playground that will host thousands of children each year. It will feature wheelchair accessibility, sensory and ground level play activities ensuring access for all. Our goal was $5,000, and through all contributors, we raised $19,276!
Inclusive play is beneficial for all children. It allows the opportunity for children living with disabilities to experience the positive impact that play has on their development and overall well-being. It allows non-disabled children to view the world through a more diverse lens. Social interaction naturally happens during play, contributing to greater acceptance, the breaking down of barriers, and the fostering of friendships.
The new and engaging Sea Turtle Playground will enhance Anastasia State Park’s experience for all visitors and will be built adjacent to the Sea Turtle Pavilion.
The Friends group is working towards obtaining grants, business and private donations to reach our goal of $200,000 to fund this new playground. Through our partnership with Friends of Anastasia State Park, Beaver Toyota and donors raised $19,276. Of that total, $12,000 came from Beaver Toyota.
We want to give a warm thank you to: Sarah Haar, John M. Meehan, Lillian Brady, Megan Swift, Andris Duffy, Richard Gallik, Bruce Cathcart, Maureen Long, Craig Jacobson, Bryan Rudy, Sylvia Spengler, Shelly Hall and all of our anonymous contributors for their efforts.
